New Delhi, April 2 (NationPress) The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has successfully trained a total of 23,254 candidates and certified 22,455 individuals in the last three years, aimed at enhancing their opportunities for international mobility, as reported by the government on Wednesday.
The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has established Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with seven nations -- Australia, Denmark, Japan, Germany, Qatar, Singapore, and the UAE -- to foster collaboration in skill development and vocational training, as stated by Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, in a written response in the Rajya Sabha.
These agreements are designed to provide greater opportunities for the Indian workforce, both locally and globally, promoting technical exchanges, joint training programs, recognition of qualifications, and the sharing of best practices.
The government is committed to creating institutional frameworks that support the global mobility of Indian professionals, including workers, students, researchers, and entrepreneurs.
“These agreements aim to improve global employment prospects for Indian workers while safeguarding their labour rights, curbing irregular migration, and promoting skill development,” the ministry highlighted.
Moreover, in line with the Budget announcement for the 2023-24 fiscal year, the MSDE has proposed the creation of 30 Skill India International Centres (SIICs) across various states.
Currently, two SIICs have been launched -- one in Varanasi and another at SDI, Bhubaneswar -- with five additional centres approved by the Project Steering Committee (PSC).
