Goyal stated that this ambitious event should act as a global stage to highlight India’s trade and industry’s strength, creativity, and diversity, closely aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of promoting indigenous businesses on an international platform.
While addressing the CAIT national trade leaders conference—attended by more than 200 traders from 28 states—Goyal emphasized that Indian traders are fundamental to the economy and are among its most significant pillars of growth.
The minister commended CAIT for its unwavering commitment to supporting traders, stressing the necessity of strong skill development initiatives, enhancing women entrepreneurs' empowerment, implementing effective systems to combat cyber fraud, and fostering a modern, technology-oriented, globally competitive trade environment.
Furthermore, Goyal encouraged CAIT to work closely with organizations like Swadeshi Jagran Manch, Laghu Udyog Bharti, and prominent trade associations to organize Swadeshi Melas nationwide and cultivate a widespread movement advocating for “vocal for local”.
He also proposed that CAIT take charge of the Skill Development Centre in his constituency, North Mumbai, to bolster current skill enhancement projects.
During the event, Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary General of CAIT and MP from Chandni Chowk, praised the significant contributions of Indian traders.
Khandelwal noted that Prime Minister Modi’s initiative for 'Ease of Doing Business' has empowered traders through improved systems, advanced technology, and new growth opportunities.
He reaffirmed CAIT’s dedication to safeguarding trader interests, advocating for policy reforms, and creating a more robust and organized retail ecosystem nationwide.
B.C. Bhartia, the national president of CAIT, highlighted the importance of further strengthening CAIT’s organizational framework across India and empowering traders at the local level. He outlined CAIT’s strategic roadmap aimed at enhancing capacity, advocating policy changes, enabling digital solutions, and launching national campaigns for comprehensive trade reforms.
