Bhubaneswar, Nov 25 (NationPress) Rajya Sabha member Debashish Samantaray has officially resigned from his position as the Vice-Chairman of the BJD's senior citizens' cell, prompting discussions regarding the party's internal dynamics and his recent title.
In a correspondence directed to party leader Naveen Patnaik, Samantaray conveyed his frustration regarding his new role as 'in the capacity of the rank of Vice President of the Senior Citizen Cell.'
“In the latest party restructuring of the BJD, I have been assigned the title of Vice President of the Senior Citizen Cell. Sir, I cannot comprehend what 'in the rank of vice president' truly signifies. This designation appears bureaucratic and is, frankly, demeaning and humiliating,” Samantaray expressed.
The seasoned politician also cast doubt on the loyalty of the followers of the iconic Biju Babu and Naveen Patnaik.
He accused the BJD of straying from its foundational principles, now adopting a new set of thoughts, ideologies, and actions.
“Upon reflection, I find myself quite disheartened despite my unwavering loyalty to you. For not only myself but for the countless workers of the BJD, you continue to be our sole beacon of hope for the future. I am confident that under your guidance, we will restore the trust of millions in our state,” stated Samantaray in his letter.
The Rajya Sabha member claimed that the party has “failed” to acknowledge and rectify the “faults” that contributed to the party's “humiliating” loss in the 2024 general elections.
He mentioned that every party worker is aware of the reasons behind the electoral defeat. “We lost even with a popular Chief Minister at the helm.
“Every BJD member and leader, regardless of whether they voice their concerns, understand the reasons behind our 2024 defeat and sincerely hope that you will combat any attempts to undermine our party, as if there is a deliberate plan in place,” he remarked.
“I urge you to personally address the current issues facing the party,” Samantaray requested.
The senior figure affirmed that he will remain with the party.
“Most humbly I submit, sir, I cannot accept the role IN THE RANK OF VICE PRESIDENT of the Senior Citizens Cell. I will always remain just a worker of the BJD and will continue to uphold the Biju-Naveen philosophy and actions,” Samantaray concluded.
