Kuala Lumpur, Feb 8 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for India on Sunday after finishing his two-day tour of Malaysia.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Randhir Jaiswal, mentioned that PM Modi's trip yielded important results that would significantly bolster bilateral relations.
“A remarkable visit comes to a close! Following a fruitful stay in Malaysia, characterized by exceptional warmth and hospitality, and rooted in our shared cultural connections, PM Narendra Modi has returned to India. The visit generated key outcomes that will considerably enhance India–Malaysia relations,” Jaiswal shared on X.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi engaged with CEOs from both nations. He remarked on X, stating: “The CEO Forum has unveiled new avenues in trade and investment for our countries.”
On Sunday, PM Modi also met with Indian-origin leaders, including Ministers and Senators, in Malaysia, praising their achievements in public service.
“I had an excellent interaction with PIO leaders, including esteemed Ministers and Senators. Their strong emotional bond with India was apparent. Their success in public life is a source of great pride for all of us,” he noted on X.
Moreover, PM Modi met with Jeyaraj Raja Rao, a veteran of the Azad Hind Fauj (Indian National Army), in Kuala Lumpur, underscoring the historical significance of the force and its influence among the Indian community in Southeast Asia.
While sharing a photo with Jeyaraj Raja Rao on X, he honored the legacy of the INA and its founder, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
“It was an honor to meet INA veteran Shri Jeyaraj Raja Rao. His life exhibits immense bravery and sacrifice. Listening to his stories was truly inspiring. We are eternally grateful to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and the courageous members of the INA, whose valor shaped India’s future,” he mentioned.
Earlier that day, PM Modi held discussions with his Malaysian counterpart Anwar Ibrahim at his official residence, Seri Perdana.
The two leaders evaluated developmental cooperation across various sectors, such as infrastructure, energy, and biotechnology, and agreed to enhance collaboration in security, defense technologies, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and semiconductors.
“I had a productive meeting with PM Anwar Ibrahim at Seri Perdana earlier today. India and Malaysia, as maritime neighbors, have always enjoyed a close friendship. We reviewed developmental cooperation in trade, infrastructure, energy, IT, biotechnology, and more. We also committed to improving cooperation in security, defense, AI, digital technologies, and semiconductors,” PM Modi shared on X.
“People-to-people links are at the heart of the India-Malaysia relationship. The Social Security Agreement, complimentary e-visas for tourism, and the introduction of UPI in Malaysia will bring our people closer. We are also working to boost university exchanges and develop skill opportunities for our youth,” he added.
On Saturday, PM Modi addressed members of the Indian diaspora in Malaysia.
Upon arriving in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday for his two-day visit, he was warmly welcomed by his Malaysian counterpart, Ibrahim.
