PM Modi Remembers Osamu Suzuki: A Giant in the Global Automotive Sector

New Delhi, Dec 27 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his profound sorrow on Friday regarding the passing of Osamu Suzuki, the revered patriarch and long-standing chairman of Suzuki Motor Corporation. He extended his heartfelt condolences to Suzuki's family and colleagues.
In a message shared on the social media platform X, the Prime Minister stated: “I am deeply saddened by the loss of Mr. Osamu Suzuki, a remarkable figure in the global automotive sector. His visionary contributions transformed global perspectives on mobility. Under his leadership, Suzuki Motor Corporation evolved into a global titan, adeptly overcoming challenges while fostering innovation and growth. His profound love for India and partnership with Maruti revolutionized the Indian automobile sector.”
PM Modi reminisced about the many interactions he had with Osamu Suzuki, commending his dedication and humility.
“I hold dear memories of my numerous encounters with Mr. Suzuki and have immense respect for his pragmatic and modest demeanor. He was a leader who set an example, showcasing diligence, meticulous attention to detail, and a steadfast commitment to quality. My deepest sympathies go out to his family, colleagues, and the countless individuals who admired him,” the Prime Minister shared on X.
Osamu Suzuki was a visionary leader whose extraordinary contributions significantly influenced the global automobile industry, particularly in India, where he fostered a strong rapport with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as noted in a statement from Maruti Suzuki released on Friday.
For over 40 years, Osamu guided Suzuki Motor Corp, transforming India’s car market with the launch of the iconic Maruti 800 small car.
During his visit to Japan last year, PM Modi met with Osamu Suzuki to discuss further investment opportunities in India, including establishing production facilities for electric vehicles and batteries as well as recycling centers to achieve sustainable growth.
They also explored strategies for developing the local innovation ecosystem in India, which includes skill enhancement through the Japan-India Institutes of Manufacturing (JIM) and Japanese Endowed Courses (JEC). Reflecting on Suzuki's association and contributions to India, PM Modi recognized the transformative impact of Suzuki Motors on the nation’s automotive landscape.
“The reforms implemented by PM Modi are commendable, transforming India into a 'Model Landscape', while the theme of self-reliance (Aatmanirbhar) is strongly endorsed by Japanese investors,” Osamu Suzuki had remarked.
