New Delhi, Jan 15 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been instrumental in enhancing India’s startup landscape, according to leading entrepreneurs who spoke on Thursday.
They emphasized the significance of digital public infrastructure, including the JAM Trinity (Jan Dhan, Aadhaar, and Mobile) and UPI, which have simplified business operations and fostered inclusivity.
1mg CEO Prashant Tandon stated that India now provides all essential resources for entrepreneurs aiming to grow and develop their businesses.
“Since Prime Minister Modi assumed office, startups have gained considerable attention. India has effectively positioned itself on the global startup map,” he noted.
Tandon further remarked that startups are now recognized and supported not just by entrepreneurs but also by corporations, government entities, and society as a whole.
“Robust public digital infrastructure has empowered founders to create solutions that address the genuine needs of the nation,” Tandon added.
Urban Company co-founder and CEO Abhiraj Singh Bahl recounted that when his company began, India had merely one or two unicorns.
“In the past eight years, the ecosystem has undergone a remarkable transformation. Today, India boasts over 110 unicorns and countless startups across various sectors. This growth is attributed to the leadership and backing provided by Prime Minister Modi,” he highlighted.
Pristyn Care co-founder Harsimranbir Singh mentioned that PM Modi’s 2015 address at Madison Square Garden in New York motivated him to return to India.
“He embodies the mindset of a startup CEO. Whenever he identifies an issue, he acts swiftly to address it. The government’s proactive response to global semiconductor challenges, along with a $20–30 billion investment in this sector, exemplifies this approach,” he stated.
Rage Coffee founder Bharat Sethi reminisced about attending the launch of the Startup India Mission at Vigyan Bhavan in 2016.
“Very few anticipated the monumental changes that were about to unfold. India was entering a transformative era. Today, our startup growth is largely a testament to the Startup India Mission,” he concluded.
