New Delhi, Jan 16 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the dynamic startup ecosystem of India, which is fostering growth for creators within an inclusive framework and reflecting on the multitude of opportunities for a Viksit Bharat.

In response to a post by Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal on the X social media platform, PM Modi remarked: “Today’s India is characterized by aspiration and innovation; they are crafting what they once sought!”

The Prime Minister referred to an article written by the Minister concerning the startup ecosystem, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the government’s Startup India initiative.

Goyal noted in his article, celebrating National Startup Day, that India has developed into one of the most extensive startup ecosystems globally. The Startup India initiative has transformed into an inclusive and innovative landscape throughout the nation, harnessing youthful entrepreneurial spirit to generate jobs and drive economic advancement.

He highlighted the remarkable success of PM Modi’s groundbreaking Startup India initiative, which has recognized over 2 lakh startups, creating more than 21 lakh job opportunities. In 2025 alone, over 49,000 startups were acknowledged, marking the highest annual growth since the launch of Startup India.

“India now ranks as the 3rd largest startup ecosystem worldwide, with Rs 15 lakh crore in funding enhancing the industry,” he added.

Inclusivity has been vital to this journey, with women-led businesses emerging as a significant strength, as over 45% of recognized startups feature at least one woman director. A pivotal change over the last decade has been the augmented emphasis on innovation and deep technology. India’s position in the Global Innovation Index has risen from 81 in 2015 to 38 last year, with government backing for deep tech initiatives anticipated to enhance this further, the minister stated.
