New Delhi, Jan 16 (NationPress) The remarkable success of the ‘StartUp India’ initiative signifies that today's India is dynamically evolving, self-assured, and prepared for the future. The government is reaffirming its commitment to nurturing an entrepreneurial ecosystem that elevates every aspiration and contributes to ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’, stated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday.
Celebrating nine successful years of ‘Startup India’, the Prime Minister remarked that it is a groundbreaking initiative that has transformed the landscape of innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic growth.
“This programme holds a special place in my heart as it has become a robust mechanism for enhancing youth empowerment. Over these nine years, this transformative initiative has enabled countless young minds to convert their innovative concepts into thriving StartUps,” PM Modi shared on the X social media platform.
From technology-driven solutions to rural innovations, advancements in healthcare to breakthroughs in biotech, and from Fintech to EdTech and clean energy to sustainable technologies, Indian startups are addressing global challenges while simultaneously generating job opportunities and advancing our journey toward self-reliance, PM Modi highlighted.
Startup India has catapulted India to be among the most extensive and vibrant StartUp ecosystems.
“Just a decade ago, many doubted India’s potential to prosper in this domain,” PM Modi pointed out.
The government has made extensive efforts to foster a culture of startups.
As of January 15, over 1.59 lakh startups have been recognized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), solidifying India’s status as the third-largest startup ecosystem globally.
From 2016 to October 31, 2024, recognized startups have reportedly generated more than 16.6 lakh direct jobs, making a significant contribution to employment growth.
PM Modi added that policies have been oriented towards enhancing the Ease of Doing Business, improving access to resources, and importantly, providing support at every stage.
“We are vigorously promoting innovation and incubation centers so that our youth become risk-takers. I have been consistently engaging with emerging startups,” the Prime Minister conveyed.
