New Delhi, Dec 21 (NationPress) Political leaders and local citizens expressed their appreciation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday after he conducted the Bhoomi Poojan for the new urea facility of Assam Valley Fertiliser & Chemical Company Ltd. at Namrup in Assam. They regarded this as a long-anticipated dream realized for the state and the Northeast region.
In response to the announcement, youth leader Parag Dutta stated that the project would yield extensive benefits for the area.
“This is a proud moment for us, as a long-desired dream is finally coming to fruition. This initiative will bring substantial advantages, particularly to the people of Assam and the broader Northeast. Numerous job opportunities will arise from this venture,” he shared with IANS.
Assam Minister Prasanta Phukan characterized the project as a significant achievement for the state. Earlier that day, Prime Minister Modi laid the groundwork for the ammonia-urea fertiliser initiative at Namrup in Assam’s Dibrugarh district, which will be established with a hefty investment of Rs 11,000 crore.
“This is the greatest gift for Assam,” he proclaimed, adding that the urea plant would bolster the state’s industrial framework and enhance fertiliser accessibility for farmers.
BJP MLA Taranga Gogoi also welcomed the Bhoomi Poojan, emphasizing that the action mirrors the Central Government’s commitment to Assam’s progress.
He remarked that the revival and enhancement of fertiliser production at Namrup has been a long-voiced demand of the populace and would now pave the way for new growth and job opportunities.

AGP MLA Punakan Baruah stated, "There was a public demand for this project. When we were in Assam and visited the AGP, this request was also presented by the AGP of Assam."
Community members and local residents expressed their joy over the announcement, stating that the project would create job opportunities for youth, stimulate the local economy, and invigorate industrial activities in upper Assam.
Many believe that the urea plant will be a transformative initiative not just for Assam but for the entire Northeast region.
