Sigma Advanced Systems wins ₹1,600 crore Rolls-Royce deal via UK unit
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Sigma Advanced Systems on Tuesday, 25 August announced it has secured an additional long-term agreement worth nearly £125 million (approximately ₹1,600 crore) with Rolls-Royce, executed through its recently acquired UK subsidiary Bromford Precision Solutions. The latest contract takes the combined value of Sigma's two long-term agreements with the British aerospace major to nearly £425 million.
What the New Contract Covers
Under the latest agreement, Bromford Precision Solutions will manufacture aero-engine rings, casings, lock plates, and other critical engine structures across Sigma's manufacturing facilities in India and the UK. The arrangement creates a dual-source manufacturing solution for Rolls-Royce, enabling Sigma to supply a broader portfolio of complex engine components.
This builds on a previously secured agreement valued at approximately £300 million (around ₹3,800 crore), which covers the manufacture and supply of high-precision aerospace components.
The Bromford Acquisition That Made It Possible
The new agreement follows Sigma's acquisition of 100 per cent of Bromford Precision Solutions for approximately £11.89 million (around ₹153 crore) in July 2025. Based in Leicestershire, Bromford manufactures high-precision aero-engine components — including rings, compressor casings, ducts, brackets, and lock plates — and holds approvals from both Rolls-Royce and Siemens.
Sigma said the acquisition has strengthened its position in the Rolls-Royce supply chain by adding complementary manufacturing capabilities and specialist engineering expertise.
What the CEO Said
Sigma Advanced Systems CEO Sunil Kalidindi described the agreement as a marker of India's growing stature in precision engineering. 'This agreement is another strong marker of how far India's precision engineering and defence-aerospace manufacturing base has come,' he said.
Kalidindi added that global aerospace original equipment manufacturers are increasingly looking to India not only for cost advantages but also for engineering capabilities, quality, and scale. 'By combining Bromford's specialist UK capabilities with our integrated India manufacturing network, we are able to offer a genuinely global, dual-source solution,' he said.
Impact on Jobs and UK Operations
Sigma confirmed that the agreement secures the long-term future of Bromford's Leicestershire facility within the group and supports skilled engineering and manufacturing jobs in the UK. The company operates aerospace and defence businesses in both India and the UK, including subsidiaries Nasmyth and Bromford, manufacturing precision components and systems for global aerospace and defence customers.
This is the second major contract milestone for Sigma with Rolls-Royce in quick succession, signalling a deepening of the India-UK aerospace supply chain at a time when global OEMs are actively diversifying sourcing away from single-geography dependency.
