New Delhi, June 28 (NationPress) The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) announced on Saturday that it will host the 19th 'Statistics Day' in the national capital on June 29.

This day is celebrated annually to honor the birth anniversary of Professor Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis, a trailblazer in the realm of statistics and economic planning.

The primary goal of 'Statistics Day' is to foster public awareness, particularly among the youth, regarding the vital role of statistics in socio-economic planning and policy development for national progress, according to the ministry.

Since 2007, Statistics Day has been celebrated with a theme relevant to the nation.

The theme for 2025 is “75 Years of National Sample Survey”, recognizing the crucial contribution of the National Sample Survey in delivering reliable and timely statistical data that underpins evidence-based decision-making and governance in India.

The event will be inaugurated by Minister of State (Independent Charge) Rao Inderjit Singh.

To mark 75 years of the National Sample Survey, the Ministry will unveil a Commemorative Coin and Customized My Stamp.

Several key statistical publications will also debut during this event, including the Sustainable Development Goals – National Indicator Framework Progress Report 2025 and Nutritional Intake in India 2022-23 and 2023-24.
