New Delhi, June 27 (NationPress) The total count of broadband subscribers rose from 943.09 million at April's end to 974.87 million by the conclusion of May, reflecting a monthly growth of 3.37 percent, as reported by TRAI on Friday.

During May, 14.03 million subscribers requested mobile number portability (MNP). The active wireless (mobile) subscriber count in May 2025 stood at 1,080.06 million.

The overall wireless (mobile + 5G FWA) subscribers grew from 1,166.43 million at the end of April 2025 to 1,168.42 million by May's end, marking a monthly increase of 0.17 percent.

Wireless subscriptions in urban regions increased from 633.29 million on April 30, 2025, to 634.91 million on May 31, 2025.

Rural subscriptions also saw growth, rising from 533.14 million to 533.51 million in the same timeframe. The monthly growth rates for urban and rural wireless subscriptions were 0.25 percent and 0.07 percent, respectively, according to the Ministry of Communications' data.

The wireless (mobile) tele-density in India climbed from 82.01 percent at the end of April to 82.10 percent by the end of May.

Urban wireless tele-density increased from 123.85 percent at April's end to 124.03 percent by May's end, while rural tele-density grew from 58.57 percent to 58.58 percent during this period.

At the end of May, urban and rural wireless (mobile) subscribers accounted for 54.30 percent and 45.70 percent of the total wireless subscriber base, respectively.
