According to ‘Variety’, it has been a long wait for news regarding ‘The Batman Part II’, which was first announced in April 2022, following the release of the original film featuring Robert Pattinson. After numerous setbacks, the sequel is now set to premiere on October 1, 2027, which will be five and a half years after the first film grossed over $772 million worldwide.
This announcement comes just weeks before the launch of the new DC Universe by James Gunn and Peter Safran with ‘Superman’. Gunn recently addressed fans' frustrations regarding the delay of ‘The Batman Part II’ script in an interview with ‘Entertainment Weekly’.
“We were supposed to receive a script in June. I hope that happens. We feel very optimistic about it,” Gunn stated. “Fans need to ease up on Matt; let him write the screenplay at his own pace. He doesn’t owe anyone anything just because they enjoyed his film. His success is due to his talent, so let him create as he sees fit.”
“It irritates me when people act entitled. This will be released when he is satisfied with the screenplay. Matt will share it only when he feels confident about it,” he added.
