Bengaluru, Feb 14 (NationPress) N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, stated on Friday that he is eager to enhance the company's footprint in the UK, having been honored with The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (Civil Division) for his contributions to UK-India business relations.
In his remarks, Chandrasekaran expressed, “We at the Tata Group take immense pride in sustaining a robust strategic partnership with the UK across various sectors including technology, consumer goods, hospitality, steel, chemicals, and automotive.”
He emphasized their admiration for renowned British brands such as Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) and Tetley.
“Our workforce in the UK exceeds 70,000 individuals. We benefit from exceptional research and academic collaborations with esteemed institutions here, such as the University of Oxford, the London School of Economics, the University of Warwick, and the University of Swansea,” commented the Tata Sons Chairman.
He conveyed, on behalf of the Tata Group, “Our heartfelt gratitude to HM (His Majesty) Government for their unwavering support for our Group. This relationship is strong and enduring, and I am excited about the prospect of further enhancing our presence in the UK. Thank you once again for this incredible honor.”
In September of the previous year, Tata Motors inaugurated the groundbreaking of a new Rs 9,000 crore facility in the state, aimed at manufacturing and exporting next-gen vehicles for Tata Motors and Jaguar Land Rover (JLR).
This facility, located in Panapakkam in the Ranipet district, will serve both domestic and international markets, generating over 5,000 jobs. Tata Motors Group plans to invest Rs 9,000 crore into this greenfield manufacturing site, which is designed for an annual output of over 250,000 vehicles.
Production is set to commence in phases, gradually ramping up to meet this capacity over the next 5-7 years.
The company’s Pune facility currently assembles the Range Rover Velar, Range Rover Evoque, Jaguar F-PACE, and Discovery Sport models.
