What Are the Five Specialties Driving Over 50% of FY25 Revenue in NCR’s Private Hospitals?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Jan 13 (NationPress) Cardiology, oncology, neurology, gastroenterology, and orthopaedics accounted for more than 50% of revenue in private hospitals during FY25 in the National Capital Region (NCR), as highlighted in a recent report.
This report by BNP Paribas Research delves into the performance of private hospitals across NCR (including Gurgaon, Delhi, and Noida), aiming to analyze the positioning of hospital chains within micro-markets, patient movement toward the NCR, and various factors influencing hospital success.
The findings indicate that these specialties experienced a revenue growth rate of 8-33% CAGR from FY22 to FY25.
According to the report, “The triumph of private hospitals in NCR is significantly influenced by the revenue contributions from the CONGO mix (cardiology, oncology, neurology, gastroenterology, and orthopaedics), which accounted for over 50% of revenue in FY25 for publicly listed hospitals.”
The report further notes that the revenue from these specialties in NCR is projected to surpass that of other regions. Between FY22 and FY25, the revenue growth from these specialties was 8-33% CAGR, compared to an overall revenue CAGR of 15-20% in the same timeframe, indicating a strategic focus on these areas.
NCR is identified as the primary market for most of India's listed hospitals, attributed to the large number of beds and substantial revenue potential in the area.
Approximately 43% of the planned bed capacity expansions for the top 13 listed hospitals are located in North India, primarily within NCR.
The dynamics of the market in Delhi, Gurgaon, and Noida are influenced by government infrastructure, the availability of critical care, and patient mobility.
The report asserts, “Each market possesses its unique leader. We anticipate some market disruptions in Gurgaon due to the entry of new players. Noida is poised for long-term growth due to a significant patient pool emerging from Uttar Pradesh.”
Delhi has emerged as the most vital healthcare market, being a favored destination for patients across North India.
It serves a substantial number of patients from adjacent states, including Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, and beyond.
Within Delhi, South Delhi is noted as the most developed micro-market, hosting numerous healthcare institutions.
In contrast, North Delhi, while larger in terms of patient inflow from the northern districts of Haryana, remains relatively underserved.
Interestingly, the boundaries of the NCR healthcare market are expanding with the introduction of new hospitals in Faridabad (part of Haryana and NCR) and Manesar (a town in Gurgaon and part of NCR), as per the report.
