Gwalior, Feb 2 (NationPress) Union Minister for Communications and the Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, remarked on Monday that the Budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 meets the people's expectations and initiates significant measures towards achieving the national ambition of a developed India ('Viksit Bharat') at the foundational level.
Scindia, representing the BJP as an MP from Madhya Pradesh's Guna, made these comments while addressing a press conference during his visit to Ashok Nagar (part of Gwalior division).
The Minister characterized the Union Budget as “a definitive roadmap for a Developed India”.
“This budget aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision, outlining a strategy for the nation's economic resilience, infrastructure growth, and advancements in future technologies,” said Union Minister Scindia, adding that “India is poised to become the third-largest economy by 2027.”
Focusing on key elements of the Indian economy and the budget, Scindia highlighted that India’s GDP has surged from $2 trillion to $4.3 trillion over the past decade.
He also noted that inflation between April and December 2025 was just 1.7 percent, the lowest globally.
The fiscal deficit has been maintained at 4.4 percent, with a goal to reduce it to 4.3 percent in the upcoming year, Scindia elaborated.
Investment in infrastructure has escalated from Rs 2 lakh crore in 2014 to Rs 12 lakh crore, the Union Minister reported.
Regarding the budget allocation for the North-eastern states, he mentioned that the Union government has increased the budget by 50 percent to Rs 6,800 crore, with Rs 72,000 crore earmarked for the telecom sector.
“The Union government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has made significant announcements in the budget addressing essential areas such as textiles, infrastructure, agriculture, services, and education, while also catering to future needs by supporting content creators, tourism, and artificial intelligence,” he added.
On February 1, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget for the fiscal year 2026-27, revealing various initiatives aimed at enhancing manufacturing, a tax exemption for global data centers, and incentives for agriculture and tourism sectors as she unveiled a Rs 53.5 lakh crore budget seen as a long-term framework for maintaining growth amidst escalating global challenges.
