New Delhi, Feb 1 (NationPress) Union Minister Kiren Rijiju expressed support for the Budget 2026-27 unveiled by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament on Sunday, characterizing it as pragmatic, development-focused, and in harmony with the aspiration of a ‘Viksit Bharat’.
Addressing journalists outside Parliament, he emphasized that the budget prioritizes tangible reforms over mere rhetoric, aiming to bolster inclusive growth nationwide.
"Today's budget is highly practical for ‘Viksit Bharat’. It embodies Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Reform Express', which was distinctly apparent in the announcements. This budget transcends hollow slogans; it is fundamentally about development and nation-building. I am thoroughly pleased with the budget," he stated.
Rijiju underscored key announcements, noting that the budget features numerous significant packages, especially for the eastern region and the Buddhist circuit.
"There have been noteworthy provisions for minority communities as well. As the relevant minister, I will collaborate with them to ensure implementation. This budget is commendable in this aspect. As a minister, I feel fulfilled, and as a citizen, I am excited. The Northeast and eastern India are also receiving special attention," he added.
In response to the budget, BJP MP and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad called it an effective and forward-looking budget.
"This budget lays the groundwork for development up to 2047. It encompasses nearly every sector, including students, youth, and infrastructure, while providing considerable tax relief," he remarked. He noted that the Opposition may criticize the budget but often overlooks the positive initiatives undertaken by the government.
JD-U Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Kumar Jha also praised the budget, highlighting India's resilience in the face of global challenges.
"In a time of tariff disputes and an unpredictable global landscape, India's growth remains optimistic, with the Economic Survey estimating a 6.8 percent growth. This budget addresses the needs of women, youth, and farmers," he said.
BJP MP Nishikant Dubey asserted that the budget reinforces India's ambition of evolving into a developed nation by 2047.
"Currently, we are the fourth-largest economy globally, and under Prime Minister Modi's guidance, our mission is to achieve ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’. The government's main aim is to facilitate business growth and enhance services for nearly 1.4 billion citizens," he stated.
He further indicated that the second part of the budget is focused on new initiatives in artificial intelligence, electronics, and information technology.
"The budget emphasizes the promotion of AI, electronics manufacturing, and customs duty reforms. For the general populace, there is a commitment to upgrading district hospitals, with allocations nearing Rs 12,000 crore. Infrastructure development is prioritized, particularly in the underdeveloped eastern regions. Projects like shipbuilding in Varanasi and Patna illustrate the government’s dedication to 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas',” he concluded.
