Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 1 (NationPress) As Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman prepares to unveil the Union Budget for 2026-27 in Parliament on Sunday, political leaders across various states have shared their optimism that the budget will emphasize the needs of farmers, women, and other communities. This initiative is also expected to provide a renewed push to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat.
Uttar Pradesh's Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak stated, "Today marks the presentation of the Union Budget in Parliament. This budget aims to be inclusive, marking a significant step towards the holistic development of farmers, youth, women, and all sectors of the nation. Importantly, it will bolster India’s aspiration of evolving into a Viksit Bharat."
Rajasthan's Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa also expressed his hope that the aspirations of the state would be realized in this budget.
In an interview with IANS, he noted, "Reflecting the hopes of the nation and of Rajasthan, the budget will undoubtedly be presented. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to his vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047. Farmers, women, and laborers will receive their due entitlements."
BJP MP Naresh Bansal conveyed confidence in the Union Finance Minister’s strategy, telling IANS, "Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has consistently aimed to deliver relief to various segments of society through her budgets. Whether it's farmers, women, the middle class, or others, everyone stands to gain from the budget. I anticipate this budget will be recognized for its encouragement of MSMEs and enhancement of the ease of doing business."
Meanwhile, BJD MP Sasmit Patra outlined several expectations from the Union Budget, particularly from the context of states like Odisha.
Speaking to IANS, he stated, "We harbor numerous expectations from the Union Budget today. Our primary concern is whether states like Odisha will receive their rightful entitlements regarding special assistance, especially as we encounter natural disasters with increasing frequency. We also seek special support for improving infrastructure in national highways, railways, and connectivity, alongside fiscal justice concerning coal royalty revisions."
He added that this Union Budget should provide a "roadmap indicating the Centre's willingness to allocate more to the states."
"Odisha has been advocating for three additional AIIMS hospitals. We also expect infrastructure development through more national highways and railway projects. We'll see what unfolds," he further remarked.
Highlighting the expectations from various segments of society, Patra emphasized, "The middle-class aspirations, the youth's expectations, the needs of the underprivileged for enhanced livelihood support, and the requirements of farmers and gig workers should also be prioritized. We anticipate that this budget will be more than just a superficial presentation of figures but will genuinely impact the common individual and accelerate India's journey on the path of economic growth."
JD(U) National Spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan noted that expectations from the central budget were particularly elevated in Bihar.
In an interview with IANS, he remarked, "Our expectations from the central budget are exceptionally high. The rationale is evident. During the Congress government's six-decade rule, Bihar faced prolonged colonial exploitation, where the state was systematically drained of its resources, a deeply regrettable situation."
"However, over the past 11 years, when we compare this to the earlier UPA government, Bihar has received nearly 3.5 times more central assistance than before," the JD(U) leader concluded.
