Mumbai, Sep 28 (NationPress) The latest teaser for the much-anticipated film ‘120 Bahadur,’ starring Farhan Akhtar, premiered on Sunday in celebration of the late, great playback singer Lata Mangeshkar’s birth anniversary. This teaser features the enduring melody of ‘Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon’, performed by her. This legendary patriotic anthem was penned in honor of the courageous soldiers and martyrs of the 1962 Indo-Sino conflict, which serves as the backdrop for the film.
Set against the stunning vistas of Ladakh, the film draws heavily from the actual events surrounding the 1962 India-China war. Farhan portrays the role of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, a valiant leader who, along with his troops from the 13 Kumaon Regiment, bravely faced overwhelming enemy forces.
The 1962 conflict arose due to ambiguous borders in the Aksai Chin region of Ladakh in northern India and Arunachal Pradesh in the northeast. Tensions escalated as China constructed a road through Aksai Chin, territory claimed by India. Diplomatic efforts failed, and in October 1962, Chinese forces launched a two-pronged assault.
India suffered significant losses largely due to Jawaharlal Nehru’s reluctance to deploy the air force and inadequate military resources along the border. Additionally, the USSR, a key ally of India, was unable to assist due to its involvement in the Cuban missile crisis.
Meanwhile, ‘Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon’ was crafted by esteemed poet Kavi Pradeep and composed by C. Ramchandra. The themes portrayed in 120 Bahadur resonate beautifully with Kavi Pradeep ji’s poignant lyrics, encapsulating the bravery and camaraderie of the Charlie Company soldiers. Even decades later, this song remains a timeless tribute to sacrifice and valor, which the film aims to portray on screen.
Directed by Razneesh “Razy” Ghai and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar of Excel Entertainment, and Amit Chandrra of Trigger Happy Studios, the film is slated for cinematic release on November 21, 2025.
