During the recent annual general meeting of the BCCI, former Delhi cricketer Mithun Manhas was elected as the new president of the board.
Continuing in his role as the IPL chair, Dhumal shared the committee’s aspirations, aiming to elevate the prestigious event to the top position globally.
“Over the past 18 years, we have encountered numerous challenges, including COVID, Operation Sindoor, and adverse weather that led to the rescheduling of several matches. Thanks to our incredible team, we've navigated these obstacles. Moving forward, we are determined to make it the leading sports league worldwide,” Dhumal stated to reporters outside the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai.
He also extended his congratulations to all members elected to various committees.
“All members acknowledged the newly appointed team. We express our gratitude to everyone for the trust they have placed in us. We look forward to an exciting World Cup ahead, a thrilling IPL, and we wish our women’s team all the best for the upcoming World Cup,” he added.
Reflecting on the AGM’s discussions, he remarked:
“Nothing particularly new was discussed. We reviewed the progress made in the last season during the secretary’s meeting. Otherwise, it was routine. I extend my best wishes to each member, confident they will elevate the BCCI to new heights. We achieved great success under previous leadership and anticipate that the BCCI will continue to thrive.”
Dhumal also shared his hopes for India’s victory against Pakistan in the upcoming Asia Cup final, marking the first encounter between these teams in 41 years.
“We have showcased exceptional cricket. We have won every match. I am optimistic about a significant victory today.”
