The show I Popstar features a variety of singers, showcasing regional talents such as Radhika Bhide and Rohit Raut. The platform highlights musical collaborations, and Abhijeet participated in the pre-finale episode.
Reflecting on his experience during the pre-finale episode, Abhijeet expressed, “I was privileged to be a guest singer on I Popstar, and it was a remarkable and unforgettable journey. This program is a unique platform that genuinely champions original music in today’s landscape.”
He further stated: “Witnessing so many gifted young artists (not just vocalists) brought me immense joy. Their talent in songwriting, stage presence, and musicality was outstanding. Having indie music icons and my fellow musicians Parmeesh, Aditya, King, and Aastha as mentors is a significant highlight.”
Since his time on Indian Idol, Abhijeet has longed to grace stages that celebrate contemporary original music.
“I Popstar is excelling in this regard. This opportunity allowed me to perform Mohabbatein Lutaunga again — but this time, with a contemporary spin. Given that this show caters to a GenZ audience, I crafted a brand-new version of the song, and it went viral!”
Abhijeet Sawant first made his mark with “Indian Idol” Season 1, following it up with his debut solo album Aapka Abhijeet Sawant in 2005. That same year, he contributed to playback singing for the film Aashiq Banaya Aapne, delivering the track Mar Jaawan Mit Jaawan.
His second album, Junoon, was launched in 2007, and his third studio album, titled Farida, came out in 2013.
Abhijeet made his acting debut in the movie Lottery in 2009, and later had a cameo in the film Tees Maar Khan. He also made special appearances as himself in the romantic series Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai and the thriller series C.I.D.
