Mumbai, Nov 10 (NationPress) Abhishek Bachchan is in mourning following the passing of his makeup artist of 27 years, Ashok Sawant.
In a heartfelt message shared on social media, the 'Guru' star reminisced about his time with 'Ashok dada', who he viewed as family, posting two cherished photos together.
On his official Instagram, Abhishek stated, "Ashok dada and I collaborated for over 27 years. He has been my makeup artist since my debut film. He wasn't merely a member of my team; he was family. His elder brother Deepak has been my father's makeup artist for nearly 50 years. (sic)"
The 'Dhoom' star disclosed that Ashok had been unwell for a while.
"In recent years, he struggled with health issues, so he couldn’t always be on set with me. Yet, every single day, he checked on me to ensure his assistant was managing my makeup properly. He was the kindest, most gentle soul, always sporting a smile, offering warm hugs, and sharing delicious namkeen chivda or bhakar wadi from his bag," he noted.
Sadly, Abhishek shared that after a prolonged battle with health challenges, Ashok passed away last night.
Reflecting on their treasured moments, Abhishek recalled, "He was the first individual whose feet I touched to seek blessings before my first shot of a new film. From now on, I will gaze upward, knowing he’ll be watching over me and blessing me from above."
"Thank you, dada, for your love, your care, your dignity, your talent, and your smile. It’s devastating to think of going to work without you by my side. I pray you find peace, and I eagerly await our reunion for that bear hug. Rest in peace and happiness, Ashok Sawant. (Om emoji) Shanti," the 'Paa' actor concluded.
