Actress Adaa Khan has spoken candidly about her experience on the new web show 'The Lift', calling it one of the most refreshing creative experiences of her recent career. Streaming on the Directors Kut Production YouTube channel, the show stars Khan as Hrishika in a project directed by Ishika Shahi.

A Refreshing Creative High

'The Lift' appears to have reignited something in the actress, best known for her iconic role in 'Naagin'. 'Every day we had a new experience. There was a sense of freshness, and I was experiencing something new myself. I hadn't really got an opportunity to do something like this in a long time. This show gave me a completely different high, and I had so much fun working on it,' she said.

The role, she noted, allowed her to explore a character with genuine psychological depth — a departure from the more archetypal parts she has played in the past.

Bonding with Co-star Pratik Sehajpal

Khan, who describes herself as an introvert who does not warm up to people quickly, had particular praise for co-star Pratik Sehajpal. 'Prateek is the kind of person who breaks the ice himself. He is a very chilled-out person. You can keep chatting and having fun with him. I think he is one of the few people with whom I didn't take much time to open up,' she said. Sehajpal's easy-going nature, she indicated, helped the ensemble cast settle in quickly during production.

Impressed by Ishika's Work

Khan reserved especially warm words for director Ishika Shahi. 'I think I can say that I was extremely impressed by her work, or maybe even mesmerized by it. I was just in awe of her throughout the entire shoot,' she said. The praise points to a collaborative dynamic that, by Khan's account, elevated the overall quality of the project.

The Lift's Unusual Set and Layered Characters

The show's titular setting — a confined lift — proved to be more than just a visual device. Khan revealed that spending long hours together inside the cramped space, from early morning until pack-up, created what she described as a 'very different kind of bonding' among the cast, who used the downtime between scenes to chat and relax. On the storytelling itself, she was careful not to give too much away: 'Every person has both good and bad qualities. I think there is a psychological aspect behind every character. I don't want to reveal too much, but there are a lot of layers to every character, and it was really interesting to explore them.'

With the show now live on YouTube, attention will turn to whether 'The Lift' can break through the crowded digital content space and earn Adaa Khan the wider visibility the actress clearly feels the project deserves.
