Is AICWA Raising Alarm Over Safety Breaches in 'Dhurandhar 2'?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Feb 17 (NationPress) The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has expressed its strong disapproval of the alarming and repeated safety breaches observed on the set of the forthcoming film 'Dhurandhar 2'.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film features Ranveer Singh in a pivotal role. It has attracted scrutiny from authorities due to constant violations of safety protocols during production. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has even called for the blacklisting of B62 Studios, the production house led by Aditya Dhar.
In a formal communication, AICWA conveyed its serious concerns and criticized the production team of the film.
They stated, “The life, safety, and dignity of film industry workers, technicians, and labourers cannot be compromised under any circumstances. For several years, AICWA has consistently raised serious concerns that many production houses continue to ignore mandatory safety norms, legal regulations, and basic human protection on shooting sets. Due to such gross negligence, every year several workers lose their lives, while many others suffer severe injuries caused by fires, electric shocks, and collapsing or unsafe sets. Tragic incidents at Goregaon Filmcity and other studios, where workers lost their lives due to fire and unsafe working conditions, remain painful reminders of the ongoing danger faced by film workers.”
AICWA has frequently submitted formal complaints to the Honourable Chief Minister of the State and the Honourable Commissioner of the BMC, urging for strict enforcement of safety regulations and legal actions against production houses that defy the law.
They further asserted, “AICWA firmly supports the actions taken by the BMC against B62 Studios. Such stringent measures are essential because no production house is above the law. When safety protocols are overlooked, thousands of workers are placed at risk. In Mumbai alone, hundreds of shootings occur daily, and a significant number of production houses fail to adhere to mandatory legal and safety standards.”
“AICWA will remain steadfast in its commitment to film industry workers and will not stay silent until rigorous safety enforcement is mandated throughout the film industry,” they concluded.
