Mumbai, Sep 15 (NationPress) Writer Dilip Bachchan Jha, renowned for the sports biopic ‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’, has crafted the screenplay for ‘Ajey: The Untold Story of a Monk’. He shared insights on the interconnectedness of cinema and society, emphasizing their mutual influence.
In his statement, he remarked, “Cinema mirrors the society and the era we inhabit. A mature society, alongside its cinema, leans on its leaders and influencers to motivate the audience. In a nation as populous, youthful, and rapidly developing as ours, there is an increasing demand for inspiring narratives that resonate with the younger generation.”
‘Ajey: The Untold Story of a Monk’ draws inspiration from Shantanu Gupta’s acclaimed book ‘The Monk Who Became Chief Minister’, chronicling the journey of Yogi Adityanath from a modest upbringing in Uttarakhand to a significant political leader.
During his research, the writer extensively explored Uttarakhand, visiting crucial locations tied to Yogi Adityanath’s early life.
He continued, “I went to his birthplace Panchur, along with Rishikesh and Kotdwar where he pursued his college education. Numerous incidents from his life are both astonishing and deeply emotional. He was very close to his family and friends before embracing the life of a Yogi, sharing aspirations common to any middle-class child. The sudden shift to serve society made me ponder his emotional journey and the feelings of his family.”
The film features Anant Joshi portraying Yogi Adityanath, with veteran actor Paresh Rawal in a significant role.
“From an early age, he advocated for women's safety and rights. There’s a notable incident where he confronted goons in college for this cause. While biographies provide facts and events, they often lack the storytelling drama and the emotional aspects. As a screenwriter, it’s vital to incorporate the human dimension into the narrative to make it engaging and relatable. I believe that was one of the most significant challenges,” he added.
‘Ajey: The Untold Story of a Monk’ is scheduled to hit theaters on September 19, 2025.
