Music composer Amaal Mallik has revealed that his song 'Yeh Awarapan' from the upcoming Emraan Hashmi-starrer 'Awarapan 2' was crafted as a deliberate homage to the two iconic tracks that defined the original — 'Toh Phir Aao' and 'Tera Mera Rishta'. Speaking during the film's promotional events in the BKC area of Mumbai on 5 August 2026, Mallik offered a candid look at the emotional and creative weight of composing music for a sequel to a cult classic.

Mallik described his deep personal connection to the original 'Awarapan', directed by Mohit Suri, saying he had watched the film multiple times in theatres before revisiting it on television and streaming platforms. 'Yeh Awarapan' was composed with the character's emotional arc firmly in mind. 'This song is a tribute to something like 'Toh Phir Aao' and 'Tera Mera Rishta', which were in the first part. Those two songs have kept this character alive for 20 years,' he said.

Mallik described the track as a narrative bridge between the two films. 'In this song, there is a meeting of old Shivam and new Shivam. The story is very deep. And it defines everyone's life somewhere.'
