Ameesha Patel Responds to Anil Sharma's Allegations Regarding Her Reluctance to Portray a Mother-in-Law

Mumbai, Dec 21 (NationPress) Actress Ameesha Patel, who recently appeared in the Sunny Deol film ‘Gadar 2’, has made a strong statement in response to director Anil Sharma’s assertions about her having reservations about playing a mother-in-law.
The actress expressed her thoughts on her X account, previously known as Twitter, posting a series of tweets to clarify her stance. She included a screenshot of the article where Anil shared his claims.
She stated, “Dear @Anilsharma_dir, I believe you have misunderstood the story and climax of ‘Gadar 2’. Sakina is merely a mother to Jeetey, just as she was 23 years ago in ‘Gadar 1’, and a devoted wife to her beloved Tara. Sakina is definitely not a mother-in-law to anyone and will never be.”
In another post, she continued, “Dear @Anilsharma_dir, dear Anilji, this is just a film and not a depiction of someone’s real family. Thus, I have a say in the roles I choose to accept. I respect you greatly but will never agree to play a mother-in-law in ‘Gadar’ or any film, even if offered 100 crores (sic).”
She further emphasized her position by stating, “Dear @Anilsharma_dir, as you and everyone else are aware, I have only portrayed a mother in ‘Gadar 2’ because that was my choice made 23 years ago in ‘Gadar 1’. I take immense pride in this brand and always will, but in this lifetime, I prefer to relax rather than take on a mother-in-law role.”
The actress then shared her appreciation for the fan support for her character within the film series.
She wrote, “Additionally, @Anilsharma_dir, fans do not wish to see Tara Sakina as a mother-in-law or father-in-law; they adore their Tara as a hero and a superhero, as do I. I wish you the best for your vanvaas today. May you always shine. It’s a significant day for you, and I pray for your success (sic).”
Previously, there had been rumors of tension between the actress and the director. Ameesha has voiced her dissatisfaction regarding her treatment by Anil’s production but praised Zee Studios for intervening and contributing to the massive success of ‘Gadar 2’.
