Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, March 5 (NationPress) Actor Amit Behl shared insights about his deep-rooted connection to his upcoming drama, "Jai Hind Jai Sindh".
In an exclusive conversation with IANS, Amit revealed that he hails from a family of refugees and has been enriched by numerous tales about Sindh from his Sindhi friends during his formative years.
When asked, "Jai Hind, Jai Sindh is characterized as a historical love story. What are your thoughts on the film, and what motivated you to join the cast?" Amit responded, "I come from a refugee lineage. My grandparents and parents relocated during the Partition. As a child, I absorbed many stories about Sindh from our Sindhi friends. The production team members, including Samir and Vani, also resonate with this background."
Upon learning about the ensemble cast featuring Mahesh Manjrekar, Chhaya Kadam, his longtime friend Rahul Dev, Zarina Wahab, and Jaya Prada, along with witnessing Indrajit Lankesh’s previous accomplishments, he felt an immediate sense of assurance regarding the project.
Discussing his role, he elaborated, "I portray the father of the lead character. Initially, he is depicted as a ruthless and antagonistic figure, but he eventually evolves into a more positive individual. The film poignantly delves into themes of patriotism, love for our nation, and authentic Indian values. I felt it was essential to be involved in such a narrative."
During the discussion, he was also asked about his approach to portraying characters with darker elements, a theme he explores in "Jai Hind Jai Sindh".
Describing his character, he referred to him as "affluent, ruthless, and initially devoid of empathy."
"Nonetheless, he experiences a shift toward positivity. Audiences appreciate complex characters," he noted.
Amit emphasized that an actor should embrace a spectrum of roles, from positive to negative and everything in between. He cited Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt as an example, stating, "Sanjay Dutt has masterfully portrayed both heroic and villainous roles. Amitabh Bachchan also took on a powerful negative role in Aks. This versatility is what makes acting truly beautiful; it defines an artist's range."
