Umesh Kamat Reveals His Experience Working with Priya Bapat
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, March 26 (NationPress) Actor Umesh Kamat is preparing for the premiere of his new Marathi streaming series ‘Hey Kay Navin?’ and has opened up about his collaboration with actress Priya Bapat in the show.
In ‘Hey Kay Navin’, the dynamics between him and Priya showcase a different stage of their relationship compared to their previous projects.
When questioned about any real-life experiences that resonated during filming, he remarked, “The laziness of Aditya, my character, mirrors my real-life personality. There are scenes where Priya’s character, Rama, reprimands Aditya, and those moments struck a chord with me because that’s exactly how Priya addresses me when I don’t adhere to her suggestions or react as she anticipates. That particular scene felt genuinely relatable for this reason.”
He continued, “I didn’t need to perform; I was simply being myself and responding to Priya’s dialogue. I believe that Varun, our writer, understands us well enough to craft these moments with the assumption of how Priya would genuinely respond in a situation. Despite this, Rama and Priya are distinctly different people with unique traits. However, Varun’s talent lies in his ability to create universally relatable writing that any couple can connect with. It doesn’t feel confined or specific; it resonates as authentic and broadly applicable. Personally, only a couple of instances reflect my real life, like those I mentioned.”
When asked if his work on this series shifted his thoughts on the notion of “being settled” in life, he replied, “While the series didn’t alter my perspective on the concept of ‘being settled’, it certainly provided me with fresh insights into how women perceive certain situations. It emphasized that women often exhibit more sensitivity and vulnerability, whereas men don’t always share the same perspective and may take things for granted. Several moments in the series made me realize that men ought to be more empathetic and strive to understand things from a woman’s viewpoint, preventing feelings of being undervalued or treated insensitively.”
‘Hey Kay Navin?’ is set to debut on March 31 on Marathi ZEE5.
