Los Angeles, Oct 4 (NationPress) Hollywood icons Anne Hathaway and Adam Driver are set to collaborate in Ron Howard’s upcoming film. This dynamic duo will appear in the war drama 'Alone at Dawn'.
The movie draws inspiration from the real-life events surrounding Air Force Combat Controller John Chapman (portrayed by Adam Driver) and an intelligence officer (played by Anne Hathaway) who fought for his Medal of Honor, as reported by Female First UK.
Based on the 2019 book of the same title by authors Dan Schilling and Lori Longfritz, who is Chapman’s sister, the film promises an engaging narrative.
According to publisher Grand Central Publishing, an imprint of Hachette Book Group, the book details, “In the early hours of March 4, 2002, beneath the towering 10,469-foot peak of a mountain in eastern Afghanistan, a violent confrontation unfolded. Outnumbered by Al Qaeda fighters, Air Force Combat Controller John Chapman and a small team of Navy SEALs fought desperately to reach a lost teammate. Leading the charge, Chapman was severely injured during the initial attack. Believing him to be dead, his SEAL commander ordered a retreat. However, Chapman regained consciousness alone, surrounded by the enemy.”
The narrative continues, “John Chapman’s extraordinary bravery — initially saving the lives of his SEAL comrades and then, despite his mortal wounds, engaging two dozen determined fighters to protect an incoming rescue team — posthumously earned him the Medal of Honor. Chapman is the first airman in nearly fifty years to receive this prestigious distinction, reserved for America’s finest heroes.”
As reported by Female First UK, the screenplay has been adapted by Michael Russell Gunn, known for his work on Designated Survivor, with Erin Cressida Wilson handling rewrites.
Amy Herzog has also contributed to the script, while Schilling, a former combat control technician, serves as a military advisor.
