Actor-filmmaker Anshuman Jha has opened up about his cherished memories of the late legendary singer Asha Bhosle, whose final recorded film track — titled 'Ae Meri Zindagi, Tu Chupi Hai Kahan' — will feature in his upcoming drama-comedy Om Ka Hari. The song is set to be launched on 8 September, Bhosle's birth anniversary, in a tribute that carries particular weight given her passing.

The Lesson That Will Last a Lifetime

Jha recalled that Bhosle came to record the song not once, but three times — re-recording it until she felt she had truly captured its emotional core. 'One lesson from Asha Ji that will forever stay with me — she came to record, re-record and re-re-record the song three times until she felt she had got it right — once before we shot the film, and twice after, because she loved the footage which we showed her and wanted to revisit the song,' he said.

He described her relentless pursuit of emotional precision as something that transcended craft. 'Her quest to emotionally nail every note, and her warmth, will stay with me forever,' Jha added. He also recalled that Bhosle had seen the trailer of his earlier film Lakadbaggha and told him, 'Iska bahut ashirwad milega tumhe.' He further noted the rare privilege of discussing his hero Kishore Kumar with her during their time together.

A Promise That Could Not Be Kept

Jha had promised Bhosle an old-school, live music launch for the Om Ka Hari album — an event where she would perform the song in person. 'She was incredibly excited about it. That is a regret I will live with. But time has its own rules,' he said. The song was recorded in late 2023, when Bhosle was in her 90s, making it among the final creative acts of an extraordinary career spanning over seven decades.
