Mumbai, Sep 21 (NationPress) Music composer Anu Malik, who is eagerly anticipating the launch of his new album ‘Tu Meri Poori Kahani’, has disclosed the reason behind his affectionate term for the esteemed filmmaker-producer Mahesh Bhatt.
In an interview with IANS in the Andheri West locality of Mumbai, he revealed that during his challenging professional moments, it was Mahesh Bhatt who consistently offered him assistance.
Reflecting on his album ‘Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayee’, which marked one of his initial collaborations with Mahesh Bhatt, Anu shared, “There was a period when my workload diminished significantly. That’s when I approached Mahesh Ji, and he stood by me. ‘Tere Dar Par Sanam Chale Aaye’ and ‘Baadalo’n Mein Chhup Rahe Chand Kiyun’ became huge hits.”
He further expressed, “Now, with songs like ‘Ye Ishq Hai Meri Jaan’, I realize that Mahesh Ji was the one who provided me that opportunity. I regard him as a monk because anyone who seeks his guidance never leaves empty-handed. He personally reached out to me, stating that he needed my help. What I appreciate about Mahesh Ji is his insistence on staying rooted; he said, ‘I need you, but I want Anu Malik to remember his roots and honor his father, Sardar Malik. If you can uphold that, then you are truly remarkable.’”
Anu Malik dominated the Bollywood scene in the 1980s and 1990s. Together, they transformed the landscape of Hindi film music through iconic movies such as ‘Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayi’, ‘Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke’, and the National Award-winning ‘Zakham’.
Meanwhile, ‘Tu Meri Poori Kahani’ is slated for release in theaters on September 26, 2025.
