Mumbai, April 27 (NationPress) Director Anubhav Sinha, celebrated for his films like ‘Thappad’, ‘Mulk’, ‘Article 15’, and ‘IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack’, has made a plea to the media to refer to his forthcoming movie as a theatrical film.
On Sunday, he took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes snapshot from his latest project. In his caption, he elaborated on his intentions, stating that he currently has no plans to create an OTT film.
He expressed, “There are two types of films being produced today: those for cinema and those for OTT platforms. It’s time to differentiate between them. As of now, I have no intentions of making an OTT film, so I haven’t thought of a title for it. You may label it as an OTT film if you wish, but films specifically designed for theaters, like mine, deserve recognition. English media can refer to it as a ‘theatrical film,’ while Hindi media can term it a ‘big screen film.’ They are fundamentally different for various reasons.”
He continued, “The distinction is crucial, and I request that in your reporting, it should be clear what the filmmaker's intentions are. The motivations behind both types of films vary. I will discuss intent in detail later.”
“My next film should be identified as a 'big screen film' or a 'theatrical film'. What is the film about? I will reveal that at a later date,” he concluded.
The untitled movie stars Taapsee Pannu in the leading role, marking her third collaboration with Sinha after ‘Mulk’ and ‘Thappad’.
