Mumbai, Aug 30 (NationPress) Rajan Shahi, the producer behind the highly acclaimed television series "Anupamaa", recently shared his thoughts on whether the show encounters competition from the newly launched reboot of the legendary drama, "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi".
In a detailed discussion with IANS, Rajan was posed the question, "With many classic shows making a comeback, do you believe this impacts current series like Anupamaa?"
He responded with admiration for Ektaa Kapoor's iconic creation, emphasizing that "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi" will forever hold a legendary status, stating that it was this show that elevated the perception of Indian serials.
Rajan explained: "I always say—if Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi exists, it will always be a legend. Ekta Kapoor ji, Smriti Irani ji, Balaji, and Star Plus brought respect to Indian television through that series. Before it, serials weren’t taken as seriously."
He noted that he reached out to Ektaa after viewing the promo of the reboot, highlighting that both shows cater to different generations.
According to him, "Shows like these aren’t in the TRP rat race. They focus on storytelling. We respect each other as creators."
Rajan emphasized that their mission isn’t competition but to produce engaging narratives.
He concluded, "In the end, legends like Kyunki and fresh narratives like Anupamaa are incomparable. Each occupies its own unique place in history."
Starring Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay, the "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi" reboot returned to screens on July 29, marking 25 years since its original launch.
The revived season soared in the TRP rankings, presenting a formidable challenge to established hits like "Anupamaa" and "Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah", which have dominated the charts for years.
