Actor Arnav Bhasin has revealed that he immersed himself in YouTube footage of fighter pilots to prepare for his role in the upcoming Netflix streaming series 'Operation Safed Sagar', which is set to premiere on 7 August. The actor made the disclosure during promotional events held in the BKC area of Mumbai alongside co-stars Siddharth, Jimmy Shergill, and Mihir Ahuja.

A Big Break and a Director Reconnection

Bhasin described the project as the most significant of his career so far, tracing his connection to the show's director back over a decade. 'I didn't have to be convinced. I mean, it's my biggest project yet and there's no question about that. I auditioned for it and I luckily got the part and it's a very different story for me. Anu sir, the director, had directed me in a commercial for Snapdream 10 years ago when I was 16 years old. And he just remembered me while I auditioned for this. And that's proof of like, you know, you never know in this industry what gets you what. And so for me, it was obviously a big break for me, this project,' he said.

Intensive Research Before the Camera Rolled

The actor said his preparation was extensive, driven by a personal resolve to deliver. 'And there were no questions about it. Like, I didn't even know what I was getting into. My research was a lot because I was like, I will do something in this project. I watched all the YouTube videos, I did everything. But yeah, like for me, it was a no-brainer to end up with this cast. It's amazing,' Bhasin added.

What 'Operation Safed Sagar' Is About

'Operation Safed Sagar' is based on the real combined arms operation of the same name, in which the Indian Air Force provided aerial support to the Indian Army during the 1999 Kargil War. The mission was aimed at flushing out regular and irregular troops of the Pakistani Army from vacated Indian positions in the Kargil sector along the Line of Control.

Notably, it marked the first large-scale deployment of airpower in the Jammu and Kashmir region since the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 — a fact that underscores the historical weight the series carries.

Streaming Date and Platform

The series is scheduled to stream on Netflix from 7 August. With a cast that includes established names such as Jimmy Shergill and Siddharth, the show arrives amid growing audience appetite for Indian military-themed content on streaming platforms. All eyes will be on whether the series does justice to one of the defining air campaigns in modern Indian military history.
