Badshah Addresses Controversy Over 'Titiri': Proud Haryanavi Exclaims
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, March 7 (NationPress) Rap artist Badshah, who has encountered significant criticism over his new song, "Titiri," has finally addressed the situation. He emphasized that he is a proud Haryanavi and did not intend to portray any child or woman negatively in his track.
He further clarified that his roots lie in the Hip-Hop genre, where lyrics often aim to challenge and undermine opponents.
In a video posted on his Instagram, Badshah stated, "My latest release, Titiri, has sparked controversy due to certain lyrics and visuals that have hurt the sentiments of many, particularly my fellow Haryanvis. I want to make it clear that I hail from Haryana. Those who know me understand that my language, my culinary preferences, my lifestyle, and my identity are all deeply tied to Haryana. I take immense pride in being a Haryanvi. I never meant to cast any child or woman from Haryana in a negative light."
He continued, "Being part of the hip-hop scene, I often use lyrics to compete and challenge others. My lyrics were never aimed at any woman or child, nor will they be in the future. I have always endeavored to carry the culture and language of Haryana with me wherever possible."
At the end of the video, Badshah expressed regret if anyone had been offended. "I hope you see me as a son of Haryana, as your own, and can forgive me," he concluded.
Recently, Badshah received a notice from the Haryana State Women's Commission, requiring him to appear on March 13 to provide his statement.
This notice followed a complaint by Savita Arya, president of Nari Tu Narayani Sanstha in Panipat, and Shiv Kumar, head of Shiv Aarti Foundation. They objected to a particular line in the song, claiming it contained inappropriate language and depicted minor girls in school uniforms boarding a Haryana Roadways bus, discarding school bags.
