Mumbai, Dec 28 (NationPress) The much-anticipated film ‘Baida’ has confirmed its release date. The movie is poised to premiere in cinemas in early 2025. This supernatural thriller takes place in the heartland of India's Hindi-speaking regions.
Directed by Sudhanshu Rai and Puneet Sharma, the film features a talented cast including Sourabh Raaj Jain, Hiten Tejwani, and Tarun Khanna.
Offering a sneak peek into the film, Sudhanshu Rai stated, “Continuing with our belief that story is paramount, ‘Baida’ is a complete entertainer, filled with an intriguing narrative of unexpected twists, turns, and many larger-than-life characters that will captivate the audience. The persistent support from my fans motivated me to transform my stories into films, leading to my acting and directing debut with ‘Chaipatti’, and with ‘Baida’, we are expanding the universe of untold stories.”
This film uniquely blends the genres of sci-fi and time travel within a storyline rooted in the Hindi heartland, a region typically associated with romantic comedies and political dramas. The majority of filming took place near Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, with the local dialect of Bhojpuri prominently featured.
Puneet Sharma remarked, “The Indian audience is increasingly welcoming narratives that are based on unconventional concepts and distinctive story arcs. When we released Chaipatti, it quickly became a hit across various platforms, including YouTube and OTTs, eventually amassing over 1 million views with numerous positive comments requesting a sequel. We are confident that BAIDA will resonate with theatergoers who yearn for fresh and innovative content.”
The film's production team also included local artisans and sculptors from the Gorakhpur area in its Arts Department to ensure authentic representation of the region. Certain scenes were filmed in Delhi as well. The narrative centers around an assassin who embarks on a transformative journey in life, with a series of events and extraordinary characters he meets forming the essence of this captivating sci-fi supernatural thriller.
