Mumbai, Feb 9 (NationPress) As the crime thriller “Bhakshak” marks its second anniversary, actress Bhumi Pednekkar expresses that the film's impact feels even more poignant today due to the persistent harsh realities it exposed, which continue to make headlines worldwide.

Reflecting on the film's journey, Bhumi mentioned that upon its release, Bhakshak transcended borders and resonated deeply with global audiences. However, as she looks back two years later, she feels devastated by its ongoing relevance.

Through an Instagram post, she shared: “Two years prior, Bhakshak reached audiences far and wide, eliciting heartfelt responses not just because they watched it, but because they truly felt it. I was overwhelmed then, and I’m heartbroken now.”

She emphasized the story’s continued relevance, stating, “The truth is, this narrative is still so pertinent. Sexual violence against women and children remains a fundamental issue in our society.”

Bhumi highlighted that recent global events have once again shed light on the dangers children face. Her comments emerge amidst the resurgence of discussions surrounding the infamous Jeffrey Epstein case.

“Recent weeks have served as a reminder of how unsafe our world can be for children. No child should live in constant awareness of peril. That responsibility lies with us, not them,” she remarked.

“Children deserve the liberty to play, dress as they wish, and to be safeguarded, embraced, and supported by society when they find themselves alone. Some films conclude when the credits roll, while others compel us to confront uncomfortable truths.”

Bhumi asserted that Bhakshak will always hold a significant place in her heart.
