Mumbai, Dec 24 (NationPress) The production of ‘Border 2’, starring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, is now underway.

A post from the T-Series account on X, formerly known as Twitter, announced: “The cameras are rolling for Border 2! With Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty at the forefront, this film directed by Anurag Singh, and supported by film industry stalwarts Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, guarantees an unprecedented mix of action, drama, and patriotism. Save the date: #Border2 will be in theaters on January 23, 2026!

This film, under the direction of Anurag Singh, serves as a sequel to the 1997 classic ‘Border’, an acclaimed war film that portrays the events of the Battle of Longewala in 1971. The original was directed by J. P. Dutta and depicted the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, featuring a star-studded cast including Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna, Sudesh Berry, Puneet Issar, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Tabu, Raakhee, Pooja Bhatt, and Sharbani Mukherjee.

‘Border 2’ is supported by a formidable production team that includes Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta. Produced by Gulshan Kumar & T-Series in collaboration with JP Dutta’s J.P. Films, this sequel aims to continue the legacy of the legendary original while offering a spectacular cinematic experience.

The narrative of ‘Border 2’ is reportedly inspired by the 1999 Kargil War. During early 1999, troops from Pakistan crossed the Line of Control (LoC) and seized Indian land primarily within the Kargil district.

‘Border 2’ is presented by Gulshan Kumar & T-Series along with JP Dutta's J.P. Films. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, and is scheduled for release on January 23, 2026.

In June, it was revealed that Sunny would reprise his role in the sequel to the iconic film, ‘Border’, followed by announcements regarding Varun and Diljit in August and September respectively.
