Filming Kicks Off for ‘Border 2’ Featuring Sunny Deol and Diljit Dosanjh

Mumbai, Dec 24 (NationPress) The production for Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty in ‘Border 2’ has officially begun.

This film, directed by Anurag Singh, serves as the sequel to the iconic 1997 film ‘Border’, a monumental war film that depicted the events of the Battle of Longewala (1971). The original film was masterfully directed by J. P. Dutta and set against the backdrop of the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, featuring a stellar cast including Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna, Sudesh Berry, Puneet Issar, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Tabu, Raakhee, Pooja Bhatt, and Sharbani Mukherjee.
‘Border 2’ is supported by a formidable production team that includes Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta. Presented by Gulshan Kumar & T-Series in collaboration with JP Dutta’s J.P. Films, this sequel is poised to uphold the legacy of the original while providing audiences with a grand cinematic spectacle.
The narrative of ‘Border 2’ appears to draw inspiration from the 1999 Kargil War. During early 1999, Pakistani troops crossed the Line of Control (LoC) and seized portions of Indian territory, primarily in the Kargil district.
‘Border 2’ is presented by Gulshan Kumar & T-Series in association with JP Dutta's J.P. Films. The film is being produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, with a scheduled release date of January 23, 2026.
In June, it was revealed that Sunny Deol would reprise his role for the sequel to the beloved film ‘Border’. Meanwhile, announcements regarding Varun and Diljit's involvement were made in August and September, respectively.
