Chennai, Jan 2 (NationPress) The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has officially approved director Mohan G's highly anticipated Tamil-Telugu historical drama 'Draupathi 2' for release, granting it a 'U/A' certificate.
In a post shared on his X timeline, Mohan G Kshatriyan expressed his excitement, stating, "New Year wishes to all. This is a story that has remained untold until now.. A glimpse into the dark times of the 14th century as recorded in history.. The vibrant history of South India unfolds. #Draupathi2 has received its censor clearance.. Coming to theaters this month."
Last year, IANS reported that there was considerable speculation within the industry regarding a potential release date of January 23 this year.
Produced by Chola Chakravarthy of Netaji Productions in collaboration with G. M Film Corporation, 'Draupathi 2' has generated significant buzz among audiences.
Sources indicate that the narrative is set in the 14th century, depicting the reign of Hoysala emperor Veera Vallalar III, alongside the bravery and defiance of the Kadavarayas of Sendhamangalam, all while addressing the upheavals instigated by the Mughal invasion of Tamil Nadu.
In November of the previous year, the creators unveiled an impressive first look poster showcasing actress Rakshana Induchoodan in the role of Draupathi Devi.
Rakshana's portrayal exuded both dignity and authority, embodying the rich cultural heritage, grace, and resilience synonymous with the character.
Joining her on screen will be Richard Rishi and actor-cinematographer Natti Natraj, who will also play significant roles.
