Los Angeles, Dec 25 (NationPress) Hollywood star Channing Tatum has honored the memory of the late actor James Ransone, who tragically passed away at the age of 46.
Tatum reflected on Ransone's authenticity in a heartfelt message on his Instagram Story, recalling their time together in the 2011 crime thriller ‘The Son of No One’, directed by Dito Montiel, as reported by Deadline.
“There aren’t words for these things (sic),” he shared alongside a photo of the duo. “But you, my friend… were one of the realest. I always found myself in every conversation with you, wondering what you would say next!!??? Lololol.”
“I love you, PJ. I’ll see you on the next one, my G,” Tatum added. Several others, including Chloe Sevigny, Spike Lee, and Sean Baker, have also expressed their condolences following Ransone’s death.
According to Deadline, Ransone was discovered deceased by hanging in Los Angeles on Friday, and his death is being treated as a suicide according to the county medical examiner's report. He leaves behind his wife Jamie McPhee and their son.
Meanwhile, Channing Tatum is broadening his horizons with several notable and varied projects on the horizon. A standout is ‘Roofman’, a true-crime comedy-drama directed by Derek Cianfrance, in which Tatum portrays the real-life criminal Jeffrey Manchester, whose unusual robbery sprees and life on the run are central to the narrative.
This film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and is slated for a wide release in late 2025, having already received critical acclaim and impressive ratings. In addition to Roofman, Tatum is set to embark on dramatic roles in films like Josephine (2026), a thriller-drama featuring Gemma Chan, where he plays a significant part in a story revolving around fear and paranoia following a child witnessing a violent crime.
Principal photography for Josephine will commence in 2024, with expectations for festival debuts before a broader release. Tatum is also gearing up for a significant comeback to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, reprising his role as Gambit in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, a much-anticipated blockbuster scheduled for late 2026 that promises a star-studded cast and universe-altering stakes. Furthermore, he will feature in Kockroach, a crime drama alongside Oscar Isaac and Zazie Beetz, further solidifying his mark in gritty, character-driven cinema.
