Mumbai, July 14 (NationPress) The renowned stunt artist SM Raju has sadly passed away at the age of 52 while performing a stunt sequence for Pa. Ranjith’s highly anticipated film “Vettuvan,” which stars actor Arya.

Actor Vishal expressed his shock on X, formerly known as Twitter, sharing a heartfelt note regarding Raju’s untimely demise. He wrote: “It’s truly heartbreaking to accept that stunt artist Raju has left us while executing a car toppling stunt for the film this morning.”

Vishal reflected on his long association with Raju, stating that he had witnessed Raju perform numerous high-risk stunts over the years, emphasizing his bravery.

“My sincerest condolences go out to his family during this difficult time. I will certainly be there to support them in the future, given our shared connection in the film industry and Raju's significant contributions to many projects. From the core of my being, I extend my support to them. May his soul rest in peace,” he added.

Social media is buzzing with a video showing the moments leading up to the unfortunate event, capturing the late stuntman driving at high speed before the vehicle flipped. Crew members are seen rushing to the scene to assist Raju, who succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.

For those who are not aware, SM Raju tragically passed away on Sunday while performing a car stunt for “Vettuvan,” produced by Pa Ranjith’s Neelam Productions. He was only 52 years old.

The incident transpired during the film's shoot in Vizhundhamaavadi village within the Keezhaiyur Police jurisdiction. Sources indicated that Raju had experienced chest pains and was quickly transported to the Nagapattinam Government Medical College for emergency care, but unfortunately, he was declared dead upon arrival.

Well-known stunt choreographer Silva also paid tribute to Raju on Instagram, stating: “One of our exceptional car jumping stunt artists, SM Raju, has died today while performing car stunts. Rest in peace. Our stunt union and the Indian film industry will profoundly miss him.”

As of now, neither actor Arya nor director Pa. Ranjith have publicly commented on the incident.

According to media reports, “Vettuvan” is a multi-starrer featuring Sobhita Dhulipala, Attakathi Dinesh, Kalaiyarasan, and Lingesh.

For context, Pa. Ranjith, a prominent figure in Tamil cinema, made his directorial debut with the romantic comedy “Attakathi” in 2012 and has since directed films like “Madras,” “Kabali,” and “Kaala,” both starring the legendary Rajinikanth.
