Mumbai, May 17 (NationPress) The much-anticipated trailer for the Marathi film ‘Snow Flower’, featuring Chhaya Kadam, was launched at the Bharat Pavilion during the current edition of the Cannes Film Festival in the French Riviera. This poignant film is helmed by Gajendra Ahire, a celebrated director and National award winner.
Chhaya made her return to the Cannes Film Festival following the remarkable success of her previous film, ‘All We Imagine As Light’, directed by Payal Kapadia.
The narrative of ‘Snow Flower’ centers on the heartfelt and resolute journey of two Indian grandparents who battle various challenges to secure custody of their beloved granddaughter. This cross-border story is deeply rooted in the rich traditions of Marathi storytelling.
Reflecting on her return to Cannes, Chhaya Kadam expressed, “Returning to Cannes with Snow Flower is an emotional experience that is hard to articulate. This film is incredibly special and resonates deeply with me. Even though it is in Marathi, it will surely connect with everyone who watches it.”
The film is produced by Deepak Kumar Bhagat of Percy Vs Goliath alongside Rekha Bhagat. The cast also includes Vaibhav Mangale, Sarfaraz Alam, and Manawa Devendra Bhagwat, among others.
Director Gajendra Ahire remarked, “I am thankful to the Maharashtra State Government and MFSCDC for this opportunity, and to Deepak and Rekha for trusting me with this story. Snow Flower is a narrative that truly deserves to be shared, highlighting the emotional connections we forge beyond borders and the strength of family ties. Cannes provides the ideal platform for this film to embark on its journey.”
Last year, Chhaya Kadam graced the red carpet for ‘All We Imagine as Light’, which earned the Grand Prix and featured ‘Sister Midnight’ as an official selection at Directors Fortnight in Cannes. This year, she brought the same elegance and fervor as she showcased Snow Flower, a film she describes as “near to the heart and grounded in reality.”
Snow Flower is part of a presentation by The Maharashtra Film, Stage, and Cultural Development Corporation (MFSCDC), under the Government of Maharashtra.
