The film has been officially chosen for the “Indian Cinema Now” section of the festival.
Director Ravi Shankar Kaushik expressed the personal roots of his latest work, stating, “Flames emerged from a profoundly personal space, yet truly evolved into what it is today thanks to the collaborators who believed in this journey.”
He emphasized that filming in rural northern India allowed them to delve into themes of identity, survival, and social dynamics in an authentic manner.
Reflecting on the film's premiere, he noted, “The feedback at JAFF has been incredible, and I’m thankful the film resonates beyond its local context. I eagerly anticipate sharing it with audiences at IFFK.”

Supporting this film and presenting it at JAFF was an honor as it represents the kind of Indian independent cinema that deserves global recognition. The reception in Yogyakarta has been remarkable, and it’s uplifting to see audiences appreciate such grounded storytelling. We are thrilled to present the film at IFFK, where it will engage a new audience of film lovers.”
