Mumbai, Aug 16 (NationPress) The trailer for the much-anticipated film ‘The Bengal Files’ was launched in Kolkata on Saturday, coinciding with the commemoration of Direct Action Day. This trailer embodies the distinctive approach of Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, known for his sensational storytelling, reminiscent of his previous works such as ‘The Kashmir Files’, ‘The Tashkent Files’, and ‘The Vaccine War’.

Set against the backdrop of West Bengal’s tumultuous political history, the film draws inspiration from real events and harrowing accounts, revealing the horrific Hindu genocide that has been largely overlooked by mainstream narratives.

Discussing the film, Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri remarked, “‘The Bengal Files’ serves as a crucial wake-up call, reminding us that we must not allow Bengal to become another Kashmir. Launching the trailer in Kolkata adds authenticity to our retelling of this tragic chapter in history, and the audience will catch a glimpse of it in the trailer. If Kashmir has left you pained, prepare to be haunted by Bengal.”

With its compelling visuals, eerie silences, and heart-wrenching dialogues, the trailer casts a stark spotlight on years of communal strife, systemic silence, and ideological manipulation. The cast features acclaimed actress Pallavi Joshi, legendary actor Mithun Chakraborty, and a talented ensemble that brings to life a narrative many have sought to erase.

August 16, 2025, marks the 79th anniversary of Direct Action Day, when the All-India Muslim League initiated a “direct action” campaign, involving general strikes and economic disruptions, to advocate for a separate Muslim homeland following British withdrawal from India.

Written and directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, the film is produced by Abhishek Agarwal, Pallavi Joshi, and Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri. The cast also includes Anupam Kher and Darshan Kumar.

Presented by Tej Narayan Agarwal and I Am Buddha, the film will be distributed worldwide by Zee Studios. It is set to hit theaters on September 5, 2025.
