Will Chris Hemsworth Continue as Thor After ‘Avengers: Doomsday’?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Los Angeles, Feb 18 (NationPress) Hollywood icon Chris Hemsworth is set to reprise his role as Thor multiple times following the release of the highly anticipated film ‘Avengers: Doomsday’.
The 42-year-old actor has been embodying the Marvel superhero since the debut of ‘Thor’ in 2011, and after appearing in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ in 2022, he confirmed that his journey as Thor is far from over, as reported by Female First UK.
During a recent episode of the Smartless Podcast, he mentioned, “I had a discussion with (Marvel head) Kevin Feige about my future, and he expressed that it’s exciting because audiences now anticipate significant character evolution. We have some innovative ideas in the pipeline that we hope will be distinct.”
Hemsworth revealed that his experience of playing different iterations of Thor with varied directors has been immensely enjoyable.
He noted, “I've had a blast. What I appreciate is that, unlike many other characters that actors portray, they often stick to a single persona, whereas, with directors like Taika Waititi and Kenneth Branagh, and then the Russos, each film has had a unique tone. The Russos allowed me to explore diverse approaches. The same applies to my tattoos; I find myself needing to explore different expressions.”
According to Female First UK, Hemsworth acknowledged that Taika Waititi’s interpretation of Thor may have gone slightly overboard in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’.
He stated, “When we created Thor: Ragnarok, it was a remarkable shift thanks to Taika’s vision. It was incredibly fun, and there was a great deal of appreciation for that change. However, with Love and Thunder, it felt somewhat akin to a Monty Python sketch, and we might have taken the humor too far, resulting in some backlash.”
“There was a sentiment of, ‘Why is he acting silly and why is it portrayed like this?’ Many viewers were genuinely offended, but we were simply trying to have fun and experiment with something new,” he added.
