London, Dec 15 (NationPress) Coldplay's lead singer Chris Martin astonished a newlywed couple when he delivered an unexpected live performance at their wedding.
He took to the piano to serenade the couple during their first dance after they had just exchanged vows at a wedding ceremony in England.
The groom's mother had originally reached out to the 48-year-old hitmaker, requesting a video message to be played during the wedding festivities. However, Martin surprised everyone by stating he was available that evening and would come to perform live, as reported by mirror.co.uk.
The wedding took place in Staffordshire, where family and friends gathered for the joyous occasion. As the couple prepared for their first dance, Martin quietly entered the venue and played the song 'All My Love'.
The venue owner noted that Martin was initially contacted for a video, but he offered to take it a step further.
"Chris got back and said he could go one better. He mentioned he was free that night and would perform the first dance. He didn't want any introduction, so we told them it was their first dance, and he walked in to perform. The bride and groom had no idea he was coming; it was a surprise for the guests. I don’t think they realized who it was until the end," he explained.
Martin was previously married to American actress Gwyneth Paltrow, whom he wed in 2003 and divorced in 2016. Despite their fame, their wedding was quite an intimate event.
The couple tied the knot in Santa Barbara, California, in December 2003, reportedly without any family or friends in attendance.
They welcomed their daughter, Apple, the following year and their son, Moses, in April 2006. In 2014, they announced their amicable separation but have maintained a close relationship.
Recently, Martin had a romantic involvement with American actress Dakota Johnson, which began in 2017. They became engaged but split by June 2025, with various factors cited for their breakup.
