Los Angeles, March 23 (NationPress) Hollywood icon Robert De Niro is embracing a fresh morning routine. The acclaimed actor disclosed that his day begins with the beloved children’s program ‘Ms. Rachel’.
The seasoned performer noted that his two-year-old daughter Gia has developed a “discerning taste” for television entertainment, as reported by ‘Variety’.
In a conversation with Andy Cohen on Sirius XM’s Radio Andy, the star mentioned that his daughter is particularly fond of the YouTube sensation Ms. Rachel.
“That’s how my morning started,” he shared with Cohen. “We watch ‘Ms. Rachel’, ‘The Wiggles’, and ‘Blippi’. ‘The Wiggles’ might be a bit lower quality, but ‘Ms. Rachel’ has been our go-to since day one.”
According to De Niro, Gia’s (with partner Tiffany Chen) taste is becoming increasingly sophisticated as she enjoys more episodes of ‘Ms. Rachel’. “Now she’s getting more selective because she’s familiar with it all,” De Niro revealed. “We’re eagerly anticipating new episodes, new sketches, and new songs: she’ll say ‘Okay, next.’ She’ll go ‘No, no, no, next.’ She desires a change,” he explained.
In between watching ‘Ms. Rachel’ and ‘The Wiggles’, De Niro recently collaborated again with director Barry Levinson, taking on a dual role as mob bosses Vito Genovese and Frank Costello in the film ‘The Alto Knights’.
According to ‘Variety’, this crime thriller, co-written by ‘The Godfather’ co-writer Nicholas Pileggi, debuted to mixed feedback and disappointing initial box office results, earning only $1.17 million during its opening weekend.
The mafia film had a production budget of $45 million and features Debra Messing as Costello’s spouse Bobbie, Kathrine Narducci as Genovese’s wife Anna, and Cosmo Jarvis. ‘The Alto Knights’ depicts the rise and demise of an Italian-American mobster in the mid-20th century, including Genovese’s attempted assassination of Costello in 1957. “It’s incredible. He’s an exceptional actor,” Levinson praised De Niro’s dual performance. “It felt like I was working with two distinct individuals.”
