Mumbai, Jan 26 (NationPress) Actor Dibyendu Bhattacharya, who stars in the newly released show ‘Griha Laxmi’, stated that the project offered him an intriguing opportunity to portray a character that is a merciless villain, a role he hasn't tackled in quite some time.

In a conversation with IANS, he elaborated that his character is incredibly brutal, unforgiving, and indomitable.

He shared with IANS, “He possesses his own logic to govern and interact with the world. His personality is remarkably strong.”

When queried about what he seeks in a character or script, he said, “Firstly, I assess the nature of my character. I evaluate how much value my character adds to the narrative. This is paramount for me. If my character's removal from the script doesn't affect the story's integrity, then it holds less significance. However, if the story would falter without my character, then it is crucial. I also consider the ensemble cast. When I recognize that it is a commendable project, I choose to be part of it. The same applies to ‘Griha Laxmi’.

He added, “This aspect of ‘Griha Laxmi’ drew me in. It has been a while since I portrayed a ruthless villain. My recent roles included a bureaucrat, a delegate, a police officer, a virtuous individual, a meek person, a vulnerable figure, a common man, a comedic character, and a serious persona. After an extended period, this role as a full-fledged villain is refreshing.”

The actor also recounted his experience working with renowned director Anurag Kashyap on the cult classic ‘Black Friday’. He remarked, “I first met Kashyap during discussions for ‘Black Friday’. At that time, he had directed ‘Paanch’. We maintained contact and conversed frequently. When he was creating ‘Black Friday’, he mentioned a character named Yeda Yaqoob. I was quite new back then and simply went along with whatever was required, without inquiring about the character or the storyline.”

“Eventually, I discovered that it was ‘Black Friday’, inspired by Hussain Zaidi's book. We later read the book, which was an incredibly engaging experience, as Anurag Kashyap is an exceptional director. He is a visionary who collaborates excellently with actors and provides them with significant freedom,” he concluded.
